AMMA Foundation Achievement Awards Day

AMMA Foundation recently held their 13th Annual Achievement Awards Day for 24 students who excelled in the SPM examinations 2014. The ceremony was held at the Royal Selangor Club, Kuala Lumpur on 5th July 2015.

The students received their awards from Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. S. Samy Vellu, Special Envoy (Minister Rank) to India & South Asia on Infrastructure (Prime Minister’s Department) and Founder Chancellor/Chairman of AIMST University. Other important attendees Mr. Rajiv Ahir (Community Affairs & Labour (Indian High Commissioner’s Office), Datuk Suseela Menon (President of the All Malaysia Malayalee Association - AMMA), Tan Sri Ravindran Menon (Immediate Past President of AMMA), Mr. Girish Ramachandran (President of AMMA Foundation) and Affiliate Presidents of AMMA.

While the main event represented the recognition of 24 High Achievers in their SPM 2014 results, a number of interesting supporting events were also held, one of which was the fifth of the Future Debate Series, involving 4 top Malaysian youth debaters, who spoke on the National Higher Education Blueprint (2015-2025) and whether this would address the “brain drain” problem that Malaysia is currently facing. The esteemed invited judges included Dr. Elizabeth Lee, Senior Executive Director of Sunway Group, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. V. G. Kumardas and Mr. Raja Singham, Managing Director of Brickfields Asia College.

Speaking at the High Achievers’ Day, Mr. Girish Ramachandran, President of AMMA Foundation, emphasised that Education is vital for the upliftment of society. “At AMMA Foundation, we look at the entire value chain of Education and explore the avenues where help can be rendered -  from providing loans to free tuition. Young professionals are motivated to excel in this competitive world by AF providing leadership talks and networking opportunities on industry programmes”, said Mr Girish.

The students who received the awards came from all over Malaysia and agreed that there is no end to education. They thanked their parents and teachers for having contributed to their high achievement.
