Our Guest of Honour, YB Dato’ P. AMMA Foundation has worked very hard since 1980 in the field of social services to the Malaysian community. Many opportunities are being provided to the students in the form of loans & scholarships so that they can broaden their horizons and achieve their dreams, added YB. These excellence awards provide new openings for Malaysia Indians. Since AMMA Foundation’s aim is to address the needy, YB is confident several poor Indian families will benefit from an Non-Government Organisation like AMMA Foundation. Several students who have been given the loans or scholarships have qualified to become doctors, engineers, lawyers, pharmacists and professionals in their fields of interest. This has made not only their families proud but also us – the Indians. Education is a fundamental right – it creates the opportunity for sustainable livelihoods, raises productivity, provides the basis for sustained & equitable growth, improves health & raises the level of community participation in local decision making. Every Malaysian has the opportunity to be educated to the highest level he or she rightly deserves or desires. Furthermore, with the implementation of the Malaysian Education Blueprint from April 2017, the educational challenges will be to close gaps & ensure a minimum level of educational attainment spanning from pre-school to tertiary education for all Malaysian Indian children. The Malaysian Indian Blueprint is also to ensure that the performance gaps in PT3 & SPM of Indian students versus their peers are closed within 10 years of the Blueprint’s implementation. It will also ensure that Indian children & families reveive early guidance on post PT3 or post secondary educational training, apprenticeship & employment options. The next 10 years will also enable and facilitate at least 7% Indian enrolment in all government colleges, universities, polytechnics and other tertiary/ further education institutions without compromising entry standards. It is also stressed that deserving cases of Indian youth in financial need are supported by scholarships or loans. High Achievers for SPM 2016 :
